09/06/1986 - 03/28/2023

Stuart John Farrens, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away on March 28, 2023, after suffering a cardiac arrest on March 23, 2023. He was surrounded by his many family members. Stuart is survived by his wife Alicia, daughter Adley, parents Robin and Mike Farrens, a sister, three brothers, Alicia’s parents Claudia and David Meiners, six sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and seven nieces and five nephews.

Stuart was born September 6, 1986, in Billings, Montana to Robin and Mike Farrens. The family soon moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where Stuart grew up boating, swimming, fishing, and playing baseball and soccer. Stuart was a 2005 graduate of Northridge High School and a member of the Varsity Soccer Team. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2008 for flight school, becoming a licensed commercial pilot and commercial flight instructor. Stuart graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Science in 2017. More recently, he completed prerequisite courses to apply for admission to veterinary school in fall 2023. As a child, Stuart was raised in the Episcopal Church; in his late teens he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Stuart enjoyed doing missionary work online through his social media page The Jesus Channel with 1.2M followers.

Stuart’s love for his family was apparent in his constant devotion to them. Alicia was the love of his life and daughter Adley was the beautiful miracle of their lives. He was an animal lover and his family shared their home with six cats, all rescues. Stuart was a registered organ donor and on March 31, his organs saved five lives in three different states.

Funeral services were held April 6, 2023, at Gilbert Memorial Park in Gilbert, Arizona, with family and close friends in attendance. A celebration of Stuart’s life will be held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to ABay Kitties, Waikoloa, Hawaii (https://abaykitties.wixsite.com/abaykitties).

Stuart was a real teammate and even better friend. We played for Tuscaloosa Falcons and Sharks. We just caught up around Christmas and was planning a reunion. My brother in Christ will truly be missed. Glad we got to rekindle some fond memories.

  • Alicia and Adley, I have had the special privilege of getting to know you through this tragic loss. I felt an instant love for you as you shared your tender thoughts and feelings during this time. I know that families can be together forever and that your husband and father will always be looking after you. May you learn to love and laugh again, finding peace through our Savior Jesus Christ.
