Born in Quezon City, Philippines, on March 9, 1958, Shelly was the daughter of Consuelo and Eugenio Zafra. She is survived by her devoted husband, Erik; her loving daughters, Angela (Carl) and Sarah (Mark); her adored grandchildren, Violet, Joey, and Julia; her mother-in-law, Donna Reina; brother-in-law, Brandon (Tang), and sister-in-law, Alysia. She also leaves behind her siblings Eddie (Mary), Gene (Charito), Christian (Diane), and Nina (Ken), along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Eugenio and Consuelo; her brothers, Carlos and Stan; and her nephew, Eric.

Shelly dedicated 16 years of service to the Social Security Administration. Though she kept a small circle of close friends, she was a confidante to many and known for her kindness, patience, and wisdom. She was often seen as a second mother to those around her.

Family was the center of Shelly’s world. She took great pride in her close relationship with her daughters and grandchildren, helping care for them as babies and staying actively involved in their lives as they grew. She was a talented cook, especially known for her traditional Filipino dishes and her famous sweet potato casserole during the holidays.

Shelly had a zest for life, she loved fine dining, dancing, theater, concerts, music, movies, sporting events, and traveling with Erik across the U.S. and abroad. She was beautiful inside and out, always stylish, and made sure those around her looked their best too.

Small but mighty, Shelly was a fighter to the end. Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
