Patricia Ann Gumper, 85, beloved daughter of A.J. and Cecelia Gumper, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Dickinson, North Dakota.

Patricia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and strength touched all who knew her. She was the most giving person, always giving to everyone she knew and never expecting anything in return. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating lasting memories filled with love, laughter, and compassion.

She is survived by her four daughters: Christine Sterling, Shannon Mayer, Michelle Scheeler, and Jacquelynn Hurst. Patricia was also a proud and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren (Rochelle, Crystal, Chuck Jr., Gabriel, Devin, Daniell, Zachary, Maxwell, Raya, and Darienne), who brought her immense joy and pride. Her youngest grandchild, Darienne, shared an especially close bond with her and was a tremendous help in caring for her during the last year of Patricia’s life.

In her later years, Patricia found great joy in creating diamond art, especially her beloved Yoda pieces, which she lovingly framed and shared with family and friends. She was an avid pinochle player and cherished time spent playing rummy with her family, often turning simple moments into lasting traditions. She enjoyed visiting the slot machines and was able to have one final outing just a month before her passing—a memory her family will always treasure. Patricia had a love for shopping and spending money, often enlisting her grandchildren to sit with her at the computer to help find just the right items, creating moments now remembered with smiles and laughter. She also enjoyed reading fantasy books, especially stories about dragons, which sparked her imagination and brought her joy.

Patricia was known for being a planner, always reminding those around her of what needed to get done. While it could be a bit overwhelming at times, it is now remembered fondly as a reflection of her caring nature and her desire to keep everything and everyone on track.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering support for her family, and the deep love she shared with those closest to her. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered—always encouraging those she loved to “pick a good one” and reminding everyone that “it’s smelling good.”
