Larry Odell Ivy, 77, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Queen Creek, Arizona. He was born on September 11, 1948, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Earvin Earnest Ivy and Lillian Knapp Ivy.

Larry grew up in Lovington, New Mexico, and graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, New Mexico. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico.

He proudly served in the Arizona and New Mexico Army National Guard and received the Sergeant Majors’ Award for Outstanding Performance during his service from 1972 to 1973.

Larry worked for many years as a cost engineer at Arizona Public Service at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

He had a passion for restoring old cars and vintage gas pumps, a hobby he shared with his father and later with his children.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Charlotte Kettel Ivy; his daughter, Mandeline Ivy Stevenson; and his sons, Larry Kyle Ivy and Daniel Benjamin Ivy. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a precious dog named Louie. He is further survived by two nephews who live in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Jean Gardner.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on April 10, 2026, at Rockpoint Church, 24759 S Power Road, Queen Creek, Arizona.

  • Very sorry to hear of Larry’s passing, my prayers and condolences to Charlotte and the family for your loss. Larry was such a good friend with such an easy going disposition and way about him. We worked together for many years supporting the Palo Verde Nuclear Station. Friends like him don’t come along often and it was a pleasure to have known Larry, he will be missed.
