Larry F. Rohr, an amazing Husband, Father, Son, and Friend, passed away on October 21st at the age of 75.  Larry was born in Muscatine, Iowa where he spent most of his youth.  Larry’s famous stories from his youth involved him putting the family dog into the outhouse which his mother had to climb into to get out and him teasing his sister by trying to get a bull on the way to school to chase them as he waved his red lunch pail in the air.

Larry graduated from Muscatine High School and shortly after received his draft notice to serve in the Vietnam War.  He decided to go ahead and enlist to show his willingness to serve his country.  He was assigned as a Vet tech to the 101st Airborne after Basic Training.  Larry’s primary job was to take care of the K9s for the platoons in his area.  He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Larry would end up meeting his wife, Gloria, in Muscatine Iowa after he returned home.  They were married in May of 1973 and sealed in the Washington DC Temple.  Their first child, Mindy, would arrive in 1978.  Larry Graduated from Utah State with a degree in Welding Engineering.  Shortly after Larry took a job with Salt River Project and moved to Arizona.  While in Arizona Larry and Gloria adopted 3 more children, Joseph, Melissa, and Justin.

Larry was always known for his willingness to help and use his talents to assist others.  If it involved welding, building, engineering, or just hard work he was volunteering to help.  Larry put on multiple variety shows in his backyard off Hobart St to raise money to help Gloria’s family who still lived in Peru.

Larry also had a great passion about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He served as a Stake Missionary for years with his wife Gloria and loved going out with the missionaries.  Larry also served countless days in the Mesa and Gilbert Temple.  Larry also had the chance to go share the Gospel in the prisons in Arizona, going and teaching Gospel Doctrine classes to inmates.

Larry leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Gloria Rohr, and his children, Mindy, Joseph (and wife Ashely), Melissa, Justin (and wife Sara), and Christina. Larry also leaves behind 8 grandchildren.  The Funeral Services will be held at 3307 S Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ at 11:00 am on November 2nd, 2023.  The burial will take place at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ at 1:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life and legacy Larry left for us to enjoy.
