Edith M. Corwin

Margaret Edith “Deede” Corwin of Tempe, Arizona passed away in her home on July 3, 2022.  Edith was born on November 17, 1940 to Jeannette (Malott) and Frank Williams, Sr.  She is survived by her two children Leslie Giltner and Scott Corwin as well as five grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.  Edith was one of five children and is survived by her sisters Jeannette Geiser and Lynne Archer and brothers Frank Williams Jr. and Jim Jordan.

Edith grew up in Tempe near Arizona State Teachers College, now known as Arizona State University (ASU), where she and her older brother and sister had many adventures together.  She attended Tempe Normal School and went on to graduate from Tempe High School in 1958.  Her love of the piano and classical music sent her to ASU where she had been awarded a music scholarship.  She later transferred to San Jose State University and returned to Arizona in 1970 where she remained.

Edith worked as an Administrative Assistant over the years.  She enjoyed her time at ASU in the International Student Office, working with Safeway Truck Drivers and later retiring from the Miami School District.  She was a dedicated worker, receiving numerous awards for perfect attendance and was loved by those around her.  Over the years she was active in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls as a member and on the advisory board and worked with her college sorority, Kappa Delta at ASU.

Edith was dedicated to her family, her music and her pets.  She loved her family unconditionally, always supporting them.  Growing up, her children were blessed with her beautiful piano playing almost daily.  They weren’t appreciative at the time (what kids like classical music?) but are thankful for that experience now.  She always had animals around her, mostly rescued dogs and cats that she spoiled and loved!

Services will be held on July 22, 2022 at Gilbert Memorial Park at 11am with a reception following at noon.
