Dennis Wayne Flake, 76, of Queen Creek, AZ passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 in Gilbert, AZ. Dennis was born on August 24, 1947, the 3rd child of Samuel Dennis & Rula Jane Brinton Flake in Yuma, AZ. The family moved to Phoenix when he was three years old, and about 5 years later moved to Scottsdale to the farm that the family called home. There he helped with the cows, horses, and shetlands.

He was an avid sports fan, especially anything ASU, this started about 4th grade with the ASU knot-hole gang. He has loved everything ASU as well as other sports since. He loved playing baseball, at home and at church. He graduated from Scottsdale High School, and then served a mission to the Northern States Mission (Illinois, Chicago area, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin,) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After which he attended Mesa Community College.

He married Jeanene Rowe Flake, February 17, 1972 in Mesa, after he swiped the new girls’ picture from the ward bulletin board. They had 5 children. He loved family life and all it entailed; family vacations, being involved in the kids’ lives, and spoiling his grand kids. Dennis loved the Lord and had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He cheerfully served in many different church callings, even Nursery Helper when called from the podium. He loved his callings as well as the people he served with. Dennis managed typewriter stores which then turned into business machine stores. Once the stores were closed he and his siblings started a family business which he managed until recently.

Dennis is survived by his spouse Jeanene, and children Tucker, Terese (Chris) Plumridge, Tanner (Lindsay) Flake, Hilary (JT) Andes, Madison (Heidi) Flake, and fourteen grandchildren. Also
siblings: Sandra Risley, Marilyn Llewellyn, and Reed Flake. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rula, a sister, Deone, and a granddaughter, Ivy.
