It is with broken hearts and incredible sadness that we announce our dear Cenon “Jun” Dayawon was called home on April 13, 2026, at the age of 68. He was a great husband, providing father, wholesome brother, thoughtful grandfather, and a dear friend to many.
Jun will be remembered by Helen, his wife of 42 years; children Christian, Chrissy, and Julien; grandchildren Annabelle, Nalene, Noah, Quinn, Teddy and Miles; as well as numerous relatives and friends across the world.
Jun was born in Gigmoto, Catanduanes Philippines on November 19, 1957 to Cenon Sr. and Lolita Dayawon. He was the youngest of seven children. He went to school at T.R Yangco Educational Institute San Antonio from 1st grade through high school. He pursued Industrial Engineering at Adamson University Manila Philippines. In college he did part-time jobs as a draftsman at the Bureau of Broadcasts, newspaper boy, and other jobs for his daily allowance.
After graduating from college in 1979, he started working at Intel Corporation in October 1980. Before the end of the year in 1980, he met another Intel employee that would eventually be the love of his life, Helen Mendiola. Their first date as an official couple was on January 23, 1981 in Makati Greenbelt at a restaurant called The Keg, which up to last year, would be the restaurant that they would go to almost every New Year here in the States. After a 3 month assignment in Malaysia in the spring of 1983, Jun and Helen got married on June 23, 1983. Their marriage would begin in a new country after committing to a permanent assignment with Intel Corporation in January 1984 to Arizona USA.
Throughout his distinguished career as an Intel Assembly Package Platform Manager, he went on several assignments overseas in Asia including an 18 month assignment in Malaysia in 1989. He received several Division and Technology Development awards including “In recognition for certifying industry’s first Halogen Free on two subcon sites, two substrate supplier with 0.8 mil wire and lower cost” and “First Joint Internal and External Development, Certification and Deployment of Stacked Chip Scale Packages Advancing External Capability and First Internal Assembly.”
After 27 years in Intel, he pursued opportunities as a Technology Development Manager with Numonyx and an Electronic Assembly Customer Enabling Manager with Micron. Eventually he retired from the semiconductor industry on November 2011 and began his second career as a grandfather and worldwide traveller with his wife. Their travels include cruises and bus tours in Europe and Southeast Asia, high school reunions in California and Vegas, and frequent visits home to the Philippines during the holidays.
As much as we felt that we should of had at least 20 more years of good moments, we find peace knowing that his life was lived to the fullest with the woman he loved and family and friends that enjoyed his company.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday April 18, 2026 at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297, followed by a funeral service and reception at this location.

To The Family,
Please Accept My Heartfelt Condolences. Truly the loss of a precious loved one is most difficult. Please find comfort in the promise our most loving Heavenly Father Jehovah God gives us in Revelation 21:4″And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more; neither will mourning; nor outcry; nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Yes, We can look forward to a time soon to come when all suffering including death will be done away with forever.
