William J. “Bill” Moore, Jr. passed away on February 21, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in 1950, in Pennsylvania to William and Jacqueline Moore beginning a life that would be defined by devotion to family, service to country, and a healthy dose of storytelling.

Bill leaves behind his wife, Cindy, who stood beside him through every adventure. He is also survived by his children: Dawn (Joe) Binder, Trey (Fae) Moore, Suzanne (Tom) Deitering, Michelle (Victor) Sanchez, and Kevin (Aleks) Hill. He was very proud of his growing crew of grandchildren—Georgi, Jeffrey, Nathan, Billy, Madison, Andrew, Emily, Gus, Millie, Oliver, and Lincoln—each of whom he loved fiercely and bragged about often.

A 1972 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Bill formed lifelong friendships that he treasured deeply. The bond he shared with his classmates was something special—the kind of camaraderie that only comes from shared challenges, hard work, and a little mischief along the way.

Bill never missed a game. He coached softball and football when his kids were growing up, and later became a proud fixture in the stands for his grandchildren’s games and theater performances. He was their loudest fan—never shy about cheering, offering advice, celebrating a big play or when they showed a few dance moves—the sidelines won’t be the same without him.

Bill will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, his deep love for his family, and the unmistakable pride he carried for the life he built. His family takes comfort in knowing he made a bold entrance to heaven calling out, “Go Navy, Beat Army!”.

Please join us in celebrating the life of this remarkable man.  Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, Arizona 85297. A reception with light snacks and refreshments will immediately follow as we gather to share stories, laughter, and memories in his honor.

Attire is casual. In tribute to Bill’s love of country and service, we invite guests to wear red, white, and blue; Navy blue and gold in honor of the Academy; or red to recognize his proud service in the Marine Corps.  Semper Fi, Major Moore!
