Obituary

Virginia (Ginger) Ann Henderson, 66, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a loving wife, mother of three, and grandmother of two.

She was born on November 2, 1953 to Eugene and Lillian Keller in Bloomington, Illinois. She grew up as the youngest of two children and attended University High School, graduating in 1971.

On August 22nd 1981, Ginger married Thomas I. Henderson and they celebrated nearly 39 wonderful years of marriage together.

Ginger enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, word search puzzles, attending Cardinals baseball games, Coyotes hockey games, and decorating her home for the holidays. She loved the music of Elton John and had the pleasure of seeing him numerous times live in concert.

Ginger was preceded in death by her mother and father and one sister, Mary Ellen. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Tom; her three children, Kallie Nave (Josh) of Mesa, Arizona, Daniel Henderson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Andrea Henderson of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Leia and Lily Nave; one brother, Tony Keller of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Diana Coombs of Bloomington, Illinois; sister-in-law Mary Linda Keller of Rolling Meadows Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297 is handling the arrangements. Cremation services will be received. A Celebration of Life will be held in Bloomington, Illinois at a later date.

Ginger put up a valiant fight against a sudden and unexpected illness. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of OSF St. Joseph hospital in Bloomington, and the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix for the wonderful care they provided.

Tony I remember growing up and walking to school every day with Ginger. Butch & Andy joined along the way. Sometimes others would join us. After school mini nights I stopped at your house and stayed and played with Ginger downstairs with her kitchen set. We had the best time. I never wanted to go home and always looked forward to playing with her the next day. She like to laugh a lot and I espresso liked to hear her laugh. We had the best times. When we graduated from high school and I went to CCHS I didn’t know where Ginger even went. I expected to see her around the corner at any time. When I found out she was going to you hi I was devastated. But as a usual teenager I was so busy with studying and working a job I always thought I had time to catch up with her. Or that we would run into each other

Dear Tony, Words escape me at this time. While growing up, and your parents were helping mine by taking care of of me when my mom was hospitalized, Ginger and I grew very close. Like sisters. This continued through high school. Then afterwards…nothing. Did you know that she was my Confirmation sponsor? I am so saddened by her passing. I do hope we get to have a moment to chat at her Bloomington memorial when that is held. You are being held in my heart and prayers. Hi Ginger’s family…I am so saddened to see that Ginger passed away. I worked with a “Ginger” at State Farm Ins. in Bloomington in the 80s???? and I think this is her. I have been wondering for years whatever happened to Ginger. Did she work at State Farm for awhile and she was not married then? Her picture sure looks like the Ginger I knew. We had some good funny times working together and I see she was still smiling!! She was a really good gal and I’m sure a loving wife, mother and g’ma!! I am so very sorry for the loss of Ginger and please accept my sincere sympathy during this very sad time. Kate from Normal, IL
