10/09/1940 - 03/11/2025

Vincent William DeCain, Jr, 85, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on March 11, 2026 in Chandler, Arizona, where he lived for the past 41 years. Born in Malden, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary (Evans) DeCain. He was greeted in Heaven by his wife Joan, the love of his life for 61 years, who preceded him in death just three weeks earlier. He is fondly remembered by his daughters Suzanne Logue (David), Pamela Kelley, and Marylin DeCain as well as his four cherished grandchildren: Jessica and Cassidy Logue and David Jr and Matthew Kelley. He also leaves his sister Carolyn D’Avella (Patrick) of Saugus, MA as well as many beloved extended family.

Vincent graduated from Saugus High (Massachusetts) and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University. He was a Vietnam War Era veteran and proudly served as a Surface Warfare Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Alstede AF48 and at the Naval Examining Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. He retired from the U.S. Treasury Department following a long, dedicated career in public service.

Vincent’s life was characterized by his love of family and his fun sense of humor. He loved talking about his travels while in the Navy as well as sharing stories with his family about his life growing up. He enjoyed making delicious homemade pizza for which he would spend all day making the dough. He loved listening to 50’s music and dancing with Joan. He also loved to cheer on the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. He shared so much love in everything he did and he will be remembered and cherished forever by all who knew him.

His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Chandler Regional Hospital as well as the staff at Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion.

In keeping with Vincent’s generous spirit and love for his daughter Marylin’s service dog, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Canine Companions. www.canine.org
