Obituary

Ross Kent Hendricks was born June 13, 1932 in St. Anthony, Idaho and left us peacefully, in his bed at home, on November 18, 2020. Ross was the son of Alonzo and Emma Mae Hendricks and brother to Wilbert Hendricks, Norman Hendricks, and Ronella Widdison. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Irma Willamine Hendricks, his son, Clive, daughter-in-law, Kara, and two grandchildren, Hayden and Lia.

Ross was a veteran of the Korean war, where he served in the Air Force for 4 years. As a young man he was well travelled, having spent time in Germany, Libya, Japan, Australia, and Kwajalein. After receiving Radio Technician training in the Air Force, Ross studied at the University of Utah where he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He spent his entire professional career at AIL in Long Island, NY, where he worked on Microwave Communications for satellites and defense projects. Ross will be remembered for quiet, but sincere devotion to his family, which set a good example for us all. He was adventurous, had a witty sense of humor, and a strong sense of justice.

The Celebration of Life and burial will take place at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024 December 11, 2020 at 2 PM.

Uncle Ross was always fun to be around. All of my brothers and sister and myself enjoyed having him come over when we were younger. I have very fond memories of him.

We are so saddened by Ross’s passing. We will always remember him whistling a happy tune outside on his property. He was always cheerful and the best friend and neighbor one could have. We have many wonderful memories of Ross, Irma, and Clive as our neighbors for 24 years and of our children growing up together. My dad, Norman, has shared many great memories of growing up with his brother Ross. Less than 2 years apart, they slept in the same bed as kids and roomed together at college as adults. Although they ended up living on opposite sides of the country for much of their lives, they always kept in touch. I remember a couple of trips back east as a kid to visit Ross, Irma and Clive. Thanks so much for all the happy times together. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Irma, Clive, Kara, Hayden and Lia.
