Carol Jean Gatlin Hardage was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on May 9, 1954 to Jack and June Gatlin. She moved to Texas in 1955 and lived there until 1994. Carol passed away peacefully in Chandler, Arizona on February 10, 2020. She was currently a resident of Gilbert, Arizona. Carol graduated from Dumas High School (TX) and attended West Texas State University. She had resided in Texas, Utah, and Arizona during her life. Carol taught Sunday School in her church, was active in the church choir, and was president of the local school PTA in Texas. She loved her kids and dogs, and loved to laugh and travel. Her favorite place was cruising Alaska, and she loved both country and pop music.

Carol is survived by her son Chris Hardage of Chandler, AZ; her daughter Michelle Hardage of Gilbert, AZ; her son Justin Hardage of Gilbert, AZ; and her son Jarrod Hardage of Gilbert, AZ; her 3 dogs: Madison, Kennedy and Teddy; as well as her “grand-dog” Brooklynn. She is also survived by her sister Sandra Skaggs of Dallas, TX, her brother Larry Gatlin of Sugar Land, TX and her sister Connie Gatlin of Dennison, TX. She is also survived by 4 nieces and 4 nephews. Carol was preceded in death by both of her parents and her beloved companion dog Frankie.

Public viewing will be on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Gilbert Memorial Park from 12 – 2 PM. Graveside services will be held at the same location directly after the viewing at 2 PM. Services will be conducted by Pastor Brian Kemp-Schlemmer of City Square Church (UMC) of Phoenix, AZ. Gilbert Memorial Park is located at 2100 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for a donation in Carol’s name to the Maricopa County Animal Shelters, or the go-fun-me setup by the family to help pay for unexpected medical expenses, and funeral expenses.
