A Life Remembered
Obituary
A. Elaine Manning was born on May 4,1955, in Denison, TX to Alice and Charles Roberts. She went by Elaine to avoid confusion with her mother. The first of six children, Elaine grew up in Denison where she attended Denison High School. She waitressed through much of her teenage years and during that time, she met her high school sweetheart, Bob Manning. Elaine and Bob wed on October 22, 1974. Before she became a mother, Elaine worked in accounting for several companies including Coca-Cola and Mobile Oil, but when she had two sons, Scott and later, Clint, she focused her time and energy on being a mother. The family relocated to Arizona in 1984, and in 1986, they settled in Gilbert, AZ, where Elaine’s sons finished high school, and Elaine spent the rest of her life.
Elaine had many hobbies and was an active crafter, creating her own greeting cards, jewelry, pins, and other works of art that she would share with family and friends. Elaine also contributed her works to charities and retirement homes. In her later years, Elaine always carried pre-made cards and pins to share with veterans she encountered to thank them for their service. Elaine’s interests were varied. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed reading the Bible. Her home library was always in a state of rotation. Elaine was also an active prayer warrior, working hard within her prayer circles for people who needed it.
Elaine’s ideal vacation was going to Disneyland with her family, which she was able to do several times throughout her life. The sight of Mickey was guaranteed to make her smile. Elaine is survived by her husband, Bob; her two sons, Scott (Dawn) and Clint (Sunny); and her siblings, Harley Roberts and Sarah Roberts.
