A. Elaine Manning was born on May 4,1955, in Denison, TX to Alice and Charles Roberts. She went by Elaine to avoid confusion with her mother. The first of six children, Elaine grew up in Denison where she attended Denison High School. She waitressed through much of her teenage years and during that time, she met her high school sweetheart, Bob Manning. Elaine and Bob wed on October 22, 1974. Before she became a mother, Elaine worked in accounting for several companies including Coca-Cola and Mobile Oil, but when she had two sons, Scott and later, Clint, she focused her time and energy on being a mother. The family relocated to Arizona in 1984, and in 1986, they settled in Gilbert, AZ, where Elaine’s sons finished high school, and Elaine spent the rest of her life.
Elaine had many hobbies and was an active crafter, creating her own greeting cards, jewelry, pins, and other works of art that she would share with family and friends. Elaine also contributed her works to charities and retirement homes. In her later years, Elaine always carried pre-made cards and pins to share with veterans she encountered to thank them for their service.
Elaine’s interests were varied. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed reading the Bible. Her home library was always in a state of rotation. Elaine was also an active prayer warrior, working hard within her prayer circles for people who needed it.
Elaine’s ideal vacation was going to Disneyland with her family, which she was able to do several times throughout her life. The sight of Mickey was guaranteed to make her smile.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Bob; her two sons, Scott (Dawn) and Clint (Sunny); and her siblings, Harley Roberts and Sarah Roberts.
Bob and family, Cindy and I extend our deep sympathy for the loss of your life partner and mother. We enjoyed the few visits we had very much. What a gracious and graceful woman!
Dearest Bob, sending you strength today and peace in all the days ahead.
Elaine was such a special and beautiful lady. One of my best friends who loved the Lord and gave of herself whenever and wherever she was needed. Our leading craft director for the Nursing Home Ministry for over
25 years – always donating supplies and showing us new ideas. Teaching us things we didn’t know we could do. How much fun we had over the years making cards, jewelry and gift items for nursing home residents and Joy Boxes for hospital visitations. May you know she was loved by many. A true woman of God.
I’m so very sorry for your profound loss. Prayers of comfort…
My deepest condolences, Bob, on the loss of your dear Elaine. Sending you strength and love in the days ahead.
Bob I was stunned when I heard the news and my prayers go out to you, Scott, and Clint. I am still in disbelief. Elaine encouraged me daily with texts and emails. So happy God led me to sit by her at Word of Grace back in 1997.
Bob,Clint,and Scott
I worked with Elaine at Mobil Oil. We were hired on the same day. We became instant friends and I have loved her ever since. Once we left Mobil, both of us to become Mothers, I have not seen her all these years. We shared so much in common. I am so sorry about your tremendous loss. A loving wife and Mother. My heart hurts for all of you, and I also feel a tremendous loss of my friend. I am in prayer that our Heavenly Father will cover you with his love and grace during this time.
Bob, so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers.
