Gilbert Memorial Park Wins “Best of Gilbert” Award in East Valley Tribune

[Gilbert, AZ] – Gilbert Memorial Park’s brand-new cemetery and funeral home has won the honor of Best Funeral Home from the East Valley Tribune for 2020. The cemetery that was built on 22 acres of land at Queen Creek Road and 156th Street became Gilbert’s first cemetery when it was completed in November of 2019. Bryce Bunker, President of Gilbert Memorial Park, describes the surreal experience of receiving an award after only being open for a year:

“Our intention was to innovate the way that a funeral home and cemetery was designed and operated to better meet the needs of families that came to remember their loved ones. We are incredibly grateful that the community has responded so positively to the higher level of service we are seeking to provide them.”

It might seem a strange thing to consider for an award, but both the cemetery and funeral home are different from any other in the way they seek to put family and loved ones at peace. While great care is taken to provide a comfortable resting place for the deceased, the focus is really on creating a tranquil, safe environment for people to come interact with the memory of their loved one.

“We want to change the way we celebrate life. Things don’t have to be done the way they always have been. Families’ needs have changed, and we will always be attentive and adaptive to meet those needs.”

Forgoing the typical open field of headstones, the Gilbert Memorial Park cemetery provides amenities like water features, a covered patio, large chalk walls for messages to loved ones, and a flower preparation station. Far more than just providing a final resting place, the cemetery’s carefully designed space encourages restorative reflection that especially benefits those who are grieving.

Just as comfortable and thoughtfully designed, the funeral home itself offers unique amenities such as the open tribute center, the elegant reception hall, and endless natural light provided by the large glass windows. It is a space designed to give comfort in the most uncomfortable time.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the trust we’ve gained from the community in the first year, and we intend to keep serving families with the highest level of care for many years to come.”
