Yvette Marie Jones of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away at Hospice of the Valley on April 19th, at the age of 66.

Yvette grew up in Enfield, Connecticut as the youngest of four children. She was an accomplished musician, playing French horn and mellophone with the Enfield Sabres Drum and Bugle Corps through much of her childhood, and also took key singing roles in school musicals. She graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 1977.

Her career in supply chain management featured successful tenures with top electronics companies, including Unisys, Microsoft, Nortel Networks, TE Connectivity, Apple, and Honeywell Aerospace. She managed global procurement programs for not only sourcing electronic components, but also inventory and quality control. These components went into technology that shaped the modern day world, from iPods and home appliances to radar, telecom, and aircraft equipment. She frequently joked she was “born to shop,” and it manifested in nearly 30 years of professional success.

Her first marriage was brief, resulting in the birth of her daughter, Renee, in 1983. She met her second husband and the true love of her life, James Jones, in Colorado in 1995, and the two were married in 1998 in Incline Village, Nevada. The couple moved to Gilbert, Arizona in 2009, where they transitioned to a happy retirement.

In addition to her career and raising a child as a single mother, Yvette made time to contribute to her community, including time as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, singing with the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pueblo, Colorado, supporting Children’s Musical Theater San Jose, and volunteering with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Mesa, Arizona.

She is survived by her husband, James, her daughter, Renee, her brother, Eddie, her nieces, Nichole and Yvonne, and her nephews, Charles and Michael. She is predeceased by her brother Lawrence and her sister Michele.

Per her final wishes, her funeral and final rest will be private.

Those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to donate to either the Hospice of the Valley at https://hov.org/ or the Lung Cancer Research Foundation at https://www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org/.
