11/22/1950 - 03/07/2026

Yu Kan Amy Chan passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona.

Born in Macau, China November 22, 1950, Yu Kan was the eldest of three children. She spent her early career in Hong Kong as a kindergarten teacher, where her warmth and patience touched the lives of many young students. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and went on to work at Charter Bank.

Yu Kan’s life journey took her across continents—from Hong Kong to Montreal, Canada—where she met her husband, Chi F Chan.  They were married in Calgary in 1979 and eventually made their home in Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised their daughter, Joyce.

Yu Kan found joy in life’s simple pleasures.  She loved reading, listening to music, creating arts and crafts, and most of all, spending time with her family and close friends.  She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kindness, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Chi; her daughter, Joyce (Kris) Chan; her new grand-kitten, Bunsen Chan; and her brother, Michael Yiu.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kwan Yiu, and her beloved cat, Meow Meow.

Yu Kan will be laid to rest at Gilbert Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Kitten & Animal Rescue Advocates Inc. (KARA).
