Joan Marie DeCain, 84, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 in Chandler, AZ where she lived for the past 41 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived a life filled with laughter and love. Joan is fondly remembered by her husband Vincent, the love of her life for 61 years, and daughters Suzanne Logue (David), Pamela Kelley, and Marylin DeCain. Her legacy continues through her four cherished grandchildren: Jessica and Cassidy Logue and David and Matthew Kelley.
Joan had a passion for teaching which led to a career in education. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, MA, and over the years she taught 1st through 4th grades in Massachusetts, Virginia and Illinois before staying home to raise her three beautiful daughters in Massachusetts. She resumed her teaching career when she and her family moved to Arizona until her retirement from Tempe Elementary School District.
Joan’s life was also characterized by an unwavering, unconditional love for all animals and they all loved her as well. She loved to cook, bake, sew, read, sing and cheer on the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She lovingly shared her strong faith, mercy, grace and love in all she did and everyone who knew her has memories they will cherish forever.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Majestic Manor Senior Living as well as Hospice of the Valley for their devoted care and compassion.
In keeping with Joan’s generous spirit and love for animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Canine Companions. www.canine.org
