Edward James Hennessy, lovingly know by some as “Eddie”, age 67, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by family on December 22, 2025.
Born on January 21, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois to Edward John and Shirley Mae Hennessy, Edward lived a life full of laughter, passion and heart. A devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, he embraced the simple joys of family, music and baseball.
He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and loved attending spring training games especially with his late son Justin, his wife and granddaughter Ella. Music was another one of Edward’s great loves. With The Beatles as his soundtrack, he found happiness strumming his guitar and sharing songs that meant something to him. He was also an avid reader who could often be found on the couch with a good book in hand.
Edward will be remembered for his humor, his stubborn streak, and his sharp sarcastic wit-but above all for the soft heart he tried to keep tucked underneath it all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terrie Hennessy; daughters Jennie Terry (husband Shane) and Kristin Shirley (husband Logan); grandchildren Molly Terry, Andrew Shirley, Kennedy Shirley and Ella Hennessy; daughter-in-law Ashlee Hennessy; siblings Maureen Garcia Talley, Mike Hennessy, Richard “Sean” Hennessy and Kathy Hennessy and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Justin Hennessy and his parents Edward and Shirley Hennessy.
A Service to honor Edward’s life will be held at Gilbert Memorial Park 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297 on Friday January 9th at 10:00 AM.
Edward’s presence, humor and love will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

So difficult to see my grade school friends pass. Ed was a nice guy at my grade school and Jr. High He was quiet but had a fun sense of humor even at a young age! . May all who grieve be comforted by God. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this memory of my dad! ❤️
Ed and I we’re like twins !!! We were very close to the same age. We grew up together. We were all we had “:each other ” . We experienced life together from watching the BEATLES for the first time on Ed Sullivan thru many phases of life that were challenging at best. But we always had that conversation, ” each other ” and a treasured past that cèmened use together.
No one knows what the future hold but the loss of my brother will make the world a sadder darker place without his ” light of love and hope ” FEEL LIKE HALF OF ME IS MISSING!!!!!
ED HAD HOPE !!! HOPE FOR THE FUTURE !¡
LETS HONER HIM BY MAKING THE BEST OF OUR LIVES AND FUTURE : “:LEAVE A GRAND LEGACY ”
THAT’S WHAT HE WAS ABOUT. LETS MAKE HIM
PROUD !!!
