Brightn Koay Hatch passed away on October 25, 2025. From the very start of his life, he brought energy, laughter, and light to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born on March 21, 2005, in Chandler, Arizona, to Koay and Rianne Hatch, Brightn was the beginning of a beautiful life and family. As the oldest of eight children, he took great pride in being the big brother to Brax (18), Olley (16), Oakley (14), Hank (10), Hallie (6), Hayes (6), and Rush (3). He led with love, confidence, and a natural ability to bring everyone together.
He graduated from Casteel High School in 2023, Brightn was involved in both cross country and theater. He went on to earn his cosmetology license from the East Valley Institute of Technology, a skill he practiced with care and creativity, often styling his own hair as beautifully as he did for others.
Brightn’s favorite places were always near the water, especially the beach. He was the first to dive in and the last to get out, always rallying his siblings to join the fun. Everyone listened to Brightn—when he spoke, people followed. With his “hawk eye” for detail, he could spot even the smallest lost item, untangle a knotted necklace, or finish a tough puzzle with ease.
He played the piano by ear with beauty and grace, moving everyone who listened. As a former member of cross country, Brightn continued to be an avid runner, using it as a way to clear his mind and find peace. Often times, friends and family would see Brightn running for miles and miles, amazed of his endurance, rolling down their windows and cheering him on as they drove by.
He loved his people deeply and was loyal to the core. Brightn had a natural gift for connecting with anyone, young or old, and could strike up a conversation that left you smiling. When he looked at you with his blue eyes, he saw who you really were and instantly made time for you. His laugh was large, recognizable, and made everything feel bright, you couldn’t help but laugh alongside him.
