Sheila Joan Curtis, beloved life partner, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 25, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1963, to DeMar Curtis and Anna Taylor. She is preceded in death by her father, DeMar, and is survived by her mother, Anna.
Sheila grew up in Tempe, Arizona, and graduated from Tempe High School in 1981. She went on to work many years at Fry’s Grocery Store, where her kindness, work ethic, and warm smile were appreciated by both coworkers and customers alike.
Sheila and Wayne, her life partner, had a 27-year relationship together anchored by unwavering love and support for each other that helped them navigate all the challenges life put before them.
Sheila’s children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She was the proud mother of Brandon, Nicole, Bryant, Skyler, Tanner, and the loving grandmother of many grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She played an active and important role in their lives, always offering love, support, and encouragement.
Sheila is also survived by her life partner, Wayne Brock, her mother, Anna Taylor Curtis, and her siblings, Deborah (Paul) Nielsen, Dr. Brent (Teri) Curtis, Diane (Ray) Heyman, Corina (Mark) Crosby, Brad (Nannette) Curtis, and Rebecca (Justin) Thomas.
In 2019, Sheila received the gift of a double lung transplant from her donor on Sept 15, 2019, a battle she fought with unmatched courage and determination. With the steadfast support of her life partner, Wayne, who selflessly committed to her care. Sheila lived six years post-transplant with immense gratitude for her donor, doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who guided her through her journey. Her will to live and her strength in the face of challenge were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to family, her appreciation for life’s simple beauties, and her unwavering love.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025.
