Zander Phillip Sawyers was born to Kevin and Jennie Sawyers in Atlanta, GA on July 16, 2014. Zander faced a lot of challenges in his life, but he never complained about anything. He was aware that he would face obstacles before he came to earth and chose to come anyway. He was truly loved by every person who ever met him. He loved to do “arts and craps”  with his sister, Roxie. He played video games and legos with his brother, Max. Maylee loved to make her brother laugh and take selfies together. Isaac created fun music to help Zander do things he didn’t always want to do. He also took him for rides listening to loud music with the windows rolled down. He has such a special relationship with each sibling. He was his mom’s bestie and went everywhere with her. He was his dad’s snuggle buddy and was always so excited when Dad would come home early from work! He was “so incited to be bathtized” this year, but was too perfect for this earthly experience. Zander passed away on April 9, 2022 in Phoenix, AZ. Zander loved to help whenever he was able, and he continues to bless the lives of others with his passing. Zander has overcome all of the challenges he faced and is playing basketball and swimming in heavenly pools right now. He will be missed more than we can express. We will forever be grateful to our Savior, Jesus Christ, for His atoning sacrifice and for the knowledge that we will be together again as an eternal family. His love and legacy will live in our hearts forever.

Funeral services are Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 32584 N. Gary Road, San Tan Valley, AZ 85143. Arrangements by Gilbert Memorial Park.

  • Zander you will always have a place in my heart. I never had to go “to work” when I was with you at school. You made every day special. I loved your sense of humor and that face you would give me from above your glasses and say “Mrs Edens” when you knew I was joking with you. I will never forget how you tried so hard not to laugh at me when I fell in the lobby of the school trying to catch the door for your chair. Once you knew I was ok and started to laugh at myself you laughed so hard it was awesome.
I truly loved every moment with you and will treasure those memories forever!! I miss you little buddy. It was truly a blessing to know you. 🙏🏻💞

  • Jennie, Kevin and Family,
We love you and are praying for you. We send hugs and lots of love as you navigate this new normal. We hope you find comfort in the gospel and know that Zander is now your biggest cheerleader on the other side. I am glad that you were able to some time with your angel on this Earth. He truly is an inspiration to many… near and far. I can imagine him still being an inspiration in the next life too.
    LOVE you!
Kendra and Jason Dinger (the girls too… Tori, Brooke, Katelyn and Whitney)

Kevin and Jennie, love and prayers for you and your family from Mount Airy! ❤️

  • I always enjoyed seeing him motor his walker (scooter) through the hallways at Legacy QC. We kicked soccer balls and footballs as he passed by my JH P.E. classes … his character and fighting spirit was inspiring and so very contagious to all of us at school. Rest little Zander. You are free.❤️

  • Dear Zander, what a special soul you have! So enduring, loving and gentle that God needed you more than we do here on earth! You have taught me so much, pretty sure more than I’ve thought you through the years! You always brighten up a room and no matter how challenging or hard my day was, you always brought me laughter and smiles. Words can’t express how much I am going to miss you. Your my singing buddy!! Now your are singing for eternity, how sweet! What I would give to give you one more hug and to see your fun quirky spirit. I have always been so proud of you! Your family loves you so dearly and you are such a gift! I will miss you my friend, so much! I love you! Monica

Prayers of peace, comfort and clarity for the Sawyers family

Zander was an inspiration to everyone. Even those of us who never had the chance to kiss his sweet cheeks, or share in his witty conversation, or bask in his light feel so much love for him. And our hearts are full of gratitude for the gift of knowing this brave little man, who will not be remembered for his challenges, but for his tenacity in rising above them, with a big smile upon his sweet face.
To Kevin, Jennie, Isaac, Maylee, Max, Roxie we extend our profound sympathy in this devastating time of parting. We love you. We are so so sorry for your heartbreak. It wouldn’t hurt so much if you didn’t love him so much. Try to remember all the happy times, and especially remember that Zander will always be a big part of your family. Always. And someday you will have a joyous reunion with him. Imagine him running to greet you, with his signature grin upon his dear face. xo

  • We loved getting to know Zander and see his big spirit and kind, sweet ways. We will miss him and grieve with you. Prayers for your family at this difficult time.
