Yang Hee Huffman

Yang Hee Huffman, 80, was called home on February 12, 2026. There to welcome her were her parents, Sun Chel and Hea Kung Park, dear lifelong friends, and the great love of her life.

Yang leaves behind her two children, Sooky Sayer-Kuhn and David Sayer; son-in-law Jeffrey Kuhn; her siblings in Korea and the United States; and many dear friends in the States. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but traditions filled with love, faith, friendship, and gathering that will continue through those who knew her best.

Yang lived a life defined by resilience, determination, generosity, and an unwavering belief in the possibilities of the American Dream. She was proud to be an American and embraced the life she built with gratitude, optimism, and a deep appreciation for the freedoms and opportunities this country afforded her. She went on to own and operate two businesses: a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit; she didn’t just believe in the American Dream, she built it.

Yang’s vivacious spirit, independent nature, keen intelligence, and positive outlook carried her through life’s challenges, while her generous heart made everyone who entered her home feel welcome. She was a natural hostess, always ready to prepare a meal for family and friends who came through her door. When she was welcomed into the homes of others, she never arrived empty-handed, always eager to contribute something special to the table. Her heart spoke the love language of sharing a meal whether she was preparing it, bringing it, or simply gathering around it with the people she loved.

Yang loved friendship, travel, finance, gardening, Christianity, music, and hosting memorable gatherings centered around her delectable signature dishes. She was known for her love of Christmas, Elvis Presley, the Stock Market, and glitzy outfits; each a reflection of her vibrant personality and zest for life. Above all, Yang Hee was a woman who persevered, loved deeply, welcomed generously, celebrated cheerfully, and created a life that was uniquely her own. Those who knew her best lovingly called her “Joy,” a name that seemed to fit her perfectly.

Yang Hee will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
