Victor Goodrum, 63, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away on Friday, January 31st after a brief illness.
Born on January 31st, 1962 in Hollywood, CA to the late Daniel and Joyce Goodrum.
Victor was passionate about creative cooking and culinary excellence. He greatly enjoyed watching the Food Channel and used recipes as a guideline to create perfectly prepared dishes. He would entertain by having cook-off’s at home, competing with other cooks, as they prepare three dishes in an hour, which concludes via secret ballots. He used the freshest ingredients from his garden. Always fun to be a part of his dinner parties and watch his culinary techniques.
His epic 50th birthday party included the following menu served tapas style. His nephew, Jimmy, flew in from Chicago and served as sous chef and did an outstanding job as wingman. Those two are double-trouble and could entertain each other for hours.
Menu – January 28, 2012
• Foie Gras with Figs and Port Wine Sauce
• Magret Duck Breast with Orange / Pomegranate & Ginger Glaze
• Scallops with Morel Cream Sauce
• Meatballs in Marinara Sauce
• Steak with Cognac Veal Demi-Glace
• Cheese, Prosciutto & Smoked Salmon Platter (capers, shallots, caviar, anchovies)
• Caesar Salad
Victor worked in high-tech for over 20 years and thrived in his marketing career and lifted up team members with his warm, embracing humor. As business needs shifted, he moved onto analytics and business development.
He traveled the world and lived the dream with his wife, one adventure after another. While in California, he and his wife belonged to a golf club and traveled to Maui for annual tournaments. He also enjoyed archery from his backyard.
Victor had a generous spirit and his love for life, friends and family touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter filled the room. He was a true patriot of country and devoted to God.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sherri. Even after 41 years of marriage, the love story ended too soon.
His parents, Daniel and Joyce and brother Jim, preceded him in death. He will be fondly remembered by niece KC (Rob) Hendricks; nephews, Jimmy and Danny; brother-in-law, Steven; sister-in-law, Gina, and great nieces, Jayme, Emily and Gwen and Amanda; sister-in law, Cathy; along with his childhood friend and best man at his wedding, Brian Musser; and extended family and many dear friends and co-workers who shared in his life, laughter and love.
Special thanks to our niece, KC Hendricks, an award winning RN, who provided valuable medical insight, supported Sherri always and lifted her spiritually when needed most.
Thank you Jimmy for providing artistic license for montage of pictures and music and having a heart of gold.
Thank you for attending in person or virtually to celebrate and honor this wonderful man who is endeared in our hearts! Please share thoughts by filling out the memory card in person or condolences via the Gilbert Memorial Park Website https://www.gilbertmemorialpark.com/obituaries/

Sherri,
You know better than anyone that Victor was one-of-a-kind. In the short time that I was blessed to know him, he exemplified what it means to show the love of Jesus to all. He was kind, thoughtful, and went out of his way to make you feel known – truly known. I am so grateful that the Lord allowed you to do life with Victor for over 4 decades, and yet, I grieve with you that it was cut short. I find hope and peace that he is at home now with our Heavenly Father and that one day I will get the privilege to see him again.
Best Regards,
Lance

Sherri,
We are so saddened to learn of the loss of our great friend, Victor. What a special person he was to both of us. We will miss his great dishes, his view on all things wrong in this crazy world we live in, but most importantly his warm presence. Victor always made us feel better when we were around him.
You are in our thoughts always. And while these times must be unbelievably unbearable, you are a strong woman, and we know this will only make you stronger.
Much love from the Robertson’s…
Growing up in a broken home, raised by a single mom, taught me to recognize the goodness in the world. And Vic was truly one of those remarkable men. He exemplified what it means to be strong and loving in a world where such figures are rare. Through his actions, Vic revealed the essence of a devoted husband, showing us that a lasting commitment is not only possible but beautiful.
His spirit shone through in over 40 years of marriage, a testament to his unwavering passion for love, politics, and family. He inspired us all, especially those of us with fathers who fell short, demonstrating that good men do exist and can make a profound difference. Vic’s impact reached far and wide; his legacy will forever resonate in the lives of many men he guided along the way.
Sherri, my heart aches for your loss. Jimmy and Danny, I’m deeply sorry for losing such a guiding light in your lives. KC, I recognize the pain you’ve endured this past year. Together, may you find strength and solace, uplifting each other as you carry forward Vic’s legacy. I will carry his memory with me always, striving to embody the wisdom he shared. Now, he finds peace in heaven, filled with joy, until we can reunite once more.
I am so very sorry for your loss, Sherri. Andy and I so enjoyed knowing you and Vic. He will live on in every happy memory, of which there are myriads.
You were a fantastic neighbor always sharing from your garden or helping wherever possible!! It was comforting to see a friendly face across the street mowing the lawn or at Blue32 down the road. Having been the recipient of your lobster stock, I can attest to your culinary abilities and passion! Man that was terrific and made the best lobster bisque!! You will be missed sir!
As promised, I have some filtered pictures of parties, dinners, and gatherings spanning from 2005 to 2019 with our beloved Victor and Sherri:
