Timothy Lloyd Rinesmith (Tim) passed away January 5, 2026, at age 67.

Tim started to learn to fly at the age of 18 at the Ann Arbor Airport in Ann Arbor, Michigan and received his pilot’s license  at the age of 22. He loved flying and shared this with his children paying for an instructor flight for each of them. Tim was a helper who was willing to help anyone in need and did so frequently. If he did not have the knowledge to do so, he would gain it by research and teaching himself through books and later YouTube. It has been said that “Tim is a jack of all trades and master of many”. He had many capable skills and could converse on a great number of intellectual subjects. Electronics was an interest of his that he tinkered in. In Michigan he worked at Brewers Towing in Ann Arbor, Corporate Flight at Metro Airport and Masten Products near the Ann Arbor Airport. He was a big fan of Star Trek that Pamela had never heard of before becoming reacquainted with him in 1991. Tim loved to build and send off Rockets as a child and shared that with his children. Tim loved the community of Gilbert which he has lived in for the past 23 years and did volunteer work in various capacities over the years many of which were in leadership roles! Tim had many friends that relied on his knowledge of world news, stock market and the political arena in Gilbert to help them decide who to vote for. Tim was devoted to Pamela and did an excellent job of showing and telling her that she was loved every day!

Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Pamela Rinesmith; his children Starr (Tim) Joseph, Kevin (Angelina) Patton and Rachel (Raheem) Williams; his  six grandchildren, Janelle, Jace and Jasper and Breanna, Declan and Callen. Also survived by his brothers Jim and Tom; and sisters Cindy and Denise. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Patricia Rinesmith.

A memorial service will be held at Gilbert Memorial Park Funeral Home at 2100 E. Queen Creek RD in Gilbert, AZ 85297 on January 16, 2026, at 5 PM.

Gilbert mourns the loss of Tim Rinesmith – a devoted resident, volunteer, and community leader.

  • Tim Rinesmith was a truly good man. In the few encounters I had with him, he was always full of good cheer-thoughtful in conversation, generous in spirit, and intentional about checking in on others. It was an honor to know him, even briefly. His welcoming demeanor and genuine kindness were always admirable and left a lasting impression. I am praying for God’s comfort, peace, and strength over his family and loved ones during this incredible difficult time.

  • Sending hugs and prayers cousin Robin and family. I am so sorry to hear this news. I am so happy I got the chance to see you guys in November. I love you all and you are in my prayers. ❤️

  • Tim was a person you could count on no matter what. He always found time to help his family, friends, and Town of Gilbert leaders, employees, and other volunteers. His acts of service helped make Gilbert a good place to live. When visiting Tim and Pamela, I always felt at home and part of the family. After leaving Arizonia, I missed the Rinesmiths, their thoughtfulness, support, and our shared experiences. It is said that true friends are never apart, maybe in distance but never in heart. Goodbye Tim, see you on the other side.♡

  • I appreciate the times I had with Uncle Tim where he flew me and my family up in a plane in Ann arbor and he taught me how to drive a stick shift and shared the importance of serving your community.

  • I became acquainted with Tim and Pamela through their regular attendance at council meetings, but I knew their names even before that, due to their engagement with the community and public service. Tim was always such a pleasure to talk with, and I’m grateful I had the chance to know him. My heartfelt condolences go out to Pamela, Tim’s children, and the entire family.
