Obituary

Thomas Joseph Boyle passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 10 th , 2022. He was 81 years old.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Geri Boyle, as well as sons Joseph (Carolina) and Michael (Jennifer), stepdaughter Lisa Guy, and stepsons Preston Lyles (Annette) and Michael Lyles (Marsha). Additionally, his passing is mourned by his eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as his brother Dick Boyle and sisters-in-law Beth Boyle, Chris Boyle and Joan Boyle. He is preceded in passing by Jean & Frank Bondarnko and Joyce & Jerry Savoie as well as his older brothers Jack and Raymond.

Tom was born the youngest of six children in Ferndale, Michigan in 1941. He attended Michigan State University before setting off on a nearly five-decade career as a merchandising executive. He spent the last 30 years as Director of Merchandising for Glacier National Park, Inc. where he impacted the lives of countless colleagues, employees and friends.

Tom loved sports, especially as a fan of MSU basketball and football as well as being a dedicated Phoenix Suns fan over the years. He loved the outdoors and his time living in both Arizona and Montana. He loved traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with his lifelong friends including Jim and Mickey. But more than anything he treasured his family and spending time with them in Michigan, Montana, California, and Arizona while watching the younger generations grow. He will be deeply missed by all.

A celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 16 th at 3pm MST at Gilbert Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297 and will be available via livestream. I loved Uncle Tom. He was such a kind person and I loved his sense of humor. The Christmas Box was the highlight of the family Christmas parties! Even though I didn’t get to see him often, I always enjoyed time spent with him. I especially enjoyed the trips to Montana and Glacier National Park. I really appreciated being at the receiving end of getting a more intimate view of Glacier’s beautiful lodges. (The huge discount at the gift shops was pretty great too!) I enjoyed getting to visit him and Geri in Arizona also. Andy and I contacted them at the last minute at the end of one of our vacations and both Tom and Geri were so accomodating. The world has lost a great man, but something tells me that Joe and Mike are capable of continuing his legacy. Much love to all of you. Julie and Andy

Sending a great big Michigan hug to everyone! I wish I could give you a big hug in person. I have so many fond memories of Uncle Tom! My mom was always ( and Dad) so excited whenever he came into town. We honor him every year at Christmas when we do our white elephant exchange . As a child, I couldn’t wait to open the big Christmas box that was sent from Uncle Tom. It was filled with the “leftovers” from the gift shop and he would put names on every one of them. Grandma Boyle got a tube top once! May you be comforted in knowing that he is at peace now. I hope that happy memories will sustain you during this sad time. In sympathy , love Janet
