Tanner Shaw Yeates, a beloved son, husband, father, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, December 4, 2024. His contagious, loud laughter and endearing dad jokes will be deeply missed.

Born in Ogden, Utah, Tanner was the youngest of seven siblings and grew up in Layton, Utah. He graduated from Davis High School and later earned his degree from Arizona State University. Tanner served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines, San Pablo Mission, where he embraced the Tagalog language, the culture and people.

Tanner was a great husband to Emily and a devoted dad to their children, Lydia and Bowen, helping them learn adventurous sports like dirt biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, and boating. He enjoyed traveling the world with his family, collecting art with Emily, and spending quality time with his children—a cold plunge with Lydia followed by a cup of espresso and a round of Call of Duty with Bowen were among his daily favorites. His impressive arsenal of “most embarrassing moments” kept dinnertime conversations lively and fun.

An elite wakeboarder and outdoors enthusiast, Tanner found joy in wakeboarding, hiking, and snowboarding. Tanner also had a passion for work-life balance, blending his creative problem-solving as a CPA with his adventurous spirit. Covered in tattoos and wake-surfing on the weekends, Tanner was anything but the typical accountant. He co-founded the Arizona office of HCVT, mentoring colleagues and building meaningful relationships with clients.

Despite his many achievements, Tanner courageously battled anxiety and depression, striving to overcome and support others along the way. May he now find the peace he so deeply sought.

Tanner is survived by his wife Emily, their children Lydia and Bowen, his parents Delyn and Vicky Yeates, and his six siblings. He will also be deeply missed by Emily’s family, his many nieces and nephews, and all who were fortunate to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Paradise Valley, Arizona, by invitation only.
