Sonya Ann Musgrove (43) of Gilbert Arizona passed away peacefully on March 13th after only a 17-day battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Sonya was born on Jun 5th, 1978, to Werner Kaiser and the late Carol Eldred in St. Joseph, MI.  Sonya attended St. Joseph High School (class of 1996) and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix.

Shortly after graduating High School Sonya met her husband, Billy “Shane” Musgrove and they were married on March 1st, 2000.  Shane and Sonya went on to have 3 children, Jazmine (21), Cayden (18) and Maliyah “Lyla” (16) that were the center of her world!

Sonya lived for her family!  She never missed a volleyball game, baseball game, cheerleading competition, school event or any other activity.  Sonya loved family game nights, going to the movies, family vacations, horseback riding and of course shopping.  If it involved her family, she loved it!

Sonya was also described as being giving, selfless, charitable, an inspiration and a hero by all of those that have known her.  She has touched countless lives and would help anyone that needed a hand.  From being a surrogate mother, to sponsoring student athletes, or opening her home to people in need, she was always there to support others.

Sonya was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Eldred.  She is survived by her husband Shane, daughters Jazmine and Maliyah “Lyla” Musgrove, son Cayden Musgrove, father Werner “Papa” Kaiser, Sisters Krystal Lockman, Amber Eldred, Cindy and Michelle Kaiser, and several nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7361 S. Constellation Way, Gilbert, AZ 85296 on March 26th at 3pm.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take your family to dinner or a baseball game in honor of Sonya’s memory!

I will miss you my friend!!

Will you tell her something for me! I would give anything to have one more ride in the Jeep with the boombox up to the college to see all the boys, another day of climbing through the sunroof because you locked the keys in the car at the beach again! Another day of running around the house making jokes about wire hangers and working at the jewelry store together!!

  • Urshula Patterson

My deepest condolences to the Musgrove family. I just learned about Sonya’s passing and it brought me to tears. Now I know why she never texted me back. Sonya was a very kind person and had a big heart. A very giving person. I’m so sorry we never got a chance to meet up for lunch. Rest in peace my friend! 💕🙏🏽
