Ruth Adaline Reilly Lewis of Gilbert, AZ, beloved wife, mother, cousin, sister, friend, grandmother left this earth on December 29th 2022, peacefully!
Ruth was born on June 7th, 1935 in Sharon, CT to Harry and Elsa Reilly (Swanson).
Ruth loved her family and friends dearly and held each one close in her heart! Ruth was a loyal wife, friend, wonderful mother and grandmother. Ruth did work a few jobs when first married and a few after her daughters were born, but mostly blessed with being a stay-at-home wife! Ruth loved to run and ran many 5/10k runs, as well as walking, exercising and tap. Ruth was also a Brownie leader for her girls troops, loved to sing, dance, and spend time with family and friends. Ruth had started to go to school to become a nurse prior to her marriage, but her family needed help and she gave up her dream to help her parents out, as they needed this from their children! Ruth, by nature, was a true caregiver at heart and it reflected her daily routine and life! Ruth met the love of her life, Samuel R. Lewis in 1958 and they married 6 months later on June 6th, 1959. They moved to Arizona from Washington and were married until Sam passed in 2015.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, 7 siblings, husband Sam of 56 years, cousins and dear friends!
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Behling (Keith) and Eileen Calderon (Anthony), grandson Matthew, granddaughter Zoie, step granddaughter Alexis, her youngest brother Robert, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends for life gang (Pat, Peter, Bette, Lavada), sweet dog Elsa, and 10 grand dogs! Her surviving family members are in Arizona, NY, Maryland, and Tennessee. Her many friends in Arizona (Roberta, Betty, Gail, Jean and others at Trilogy where she lived with Sam for 20 years) and some scattered across the US.
Contributions can be made in her honor to Hospice of the Valley who cared for her in her last 6 weeks of life.
