A Life Remembered
Obituary
Robert “Bob” Schroeder passed away at home on March 2, 2024 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 6, 1953, in Portage, Wisconsin, Bob learned early the value of hard work. Working on the family farm in Wisconsin Dells from a young age instilled in him a work ethic that would last throughout the years. This did not keep him from finding trouble as Bob was known for his silly antics – from skipping school yet driving past on his snowmobile to pranks pulled on teachers to racing cars down the backroads of Wisconsin Dells.
Out of high school, Bob decided that the life of a trucker was for him. Throughout his various jobs he was always known for his reliability and his safety. Almost 50 years of trucking and not one accident. Bob was also a CB radio fanatic and met many people around the world during his late-night radio sessions. His Phoenix group were some of his closest friends and he would often tell stories of their wonderful discussions.
Bob met his true love, Suzi, when working for G & M Trucking and Suzi was a dispatcher for Wis-Pak in Watertown, Wisconsin. They were united in marriage on July 16, 1988, in Watertown. Bob used to joke that he liked her telling him what to do so much at work that he decided to marry her and have her tell him what to do at home too. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage together which included many adventures on their Harley as well as joyrides in the Mustang and Jeep. After moving to Gilbert, Arizona in August of 2000, Bob continued his trucking career up until retirement.
Those that love him and will be heartbroken by his passing include his beautiful wife Susan, his step-son Steven (Karen) Klass, step-daughter Jennifer (Todd) Schumann, grandchildren Adam (Kaity) and Hayden Schumann, and Matthew Klass; Brothers Jim (Karen) and Ken (Terri) Schroeder; Sisters-in-law Gail (Dale) Woller and Jill (Paul) Jankowski and Brother-in-law Rick Petersdorf; many nieces and nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Alice Schroeder and in-laws Robert and Florence Petersdorf.
Service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 E. Queen Creek Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85297.
Robert’s Family would like to thank Suncrest Hospice, especially nurse Lisa/Linda, for their compassion and care for Robert.
