Robert Duane Levi

Robert Duane Levi, 93, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 11, 1930, in Thatcher, Arizona.  He was the first son of Amerigo Luigi Levi and Ina Lucille (Shelton) Levi.  He met and married his love, Helen Louise (Tedder) Levi in 1953.  Helen passed away just 6 weeks prior.  They would have been married 70 years this month.

Duane graduated from Tolleson High School and continued his education at ASU, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education. The family moved to Tempe in 1960 where he secured his first position teaching math at Tempe High School.  He transferred to Corona del Sol High School in Tempe when it opened in 1977 where he finished his 35-year teaching career.  He never wanted to stop working so he quickly began working with his son Mark in bread sales and distribution until he was 91 years old.

Duane was known to tell great stories of his life and was always making us laugh with his jokes and tricks. He loved to be outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and riding horses.  He loved all sports and played basketball and football in high school and basketball at Phoenix College.  He loved to golf and coached the golf team at Tempe High.

Most of all he loved his family and was a great example of hard work, patience, understanding, love, charity and how to live an honest faithful life to all who knew him.  Duane is survived by his children; Karrilyn Wilson (Kerry), Inagean Anderson (Craig), Mark Levi (Donna), Hugh Levi (Jamie), Ryan Levi (Lora), Luellen Neal (Terry), Aaron Levi (Teri); 35 grandchildren and 74 great grandchildren and his sister Sandra Trout (Gordon).

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Levi, his parents, Amerigo L. Levi & Ina L. (Shelton) Levi, his sister Marlene Hintz, his brother Ronald Levi, granddaughter Shawna Levi and great grandson Noah Neal.

A Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1221 W. Howe Street, Tempe, Arizona 85281 with Visitation at 9:00am. Interment will follow the services at Gilbert Memorial Park Cemetery, 2100 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, Arizona 85297.
