It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Charles Martin, who peacefully departed this life at his home in Gilbert, Arizona, on November 7, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Margaret Martin, Bob was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Bob grew up in Antioch, Illinois, and attended Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where he forged friendships and connections that lasted a lifetime. Throughout his career as an executive sales leader, he was known for his charisma, dedication, and leadership. His success in business enabled Bob to travel the world until he retired from Laird Technologies to focus on spending more time with his cherished family. His warmth, humor, and magnetic personality drew people in, and he will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Chuen “Jessica” Ji, and his precious daughter, Terra Martin as well as his loving sons, Christopher (Laura) Martin and David (Marcia) Martin and their mother, Patricia Maloney; his adored grandchildren, Miles, Jack, Brodie, and Reese Martin; his dear brothers, Edward (Carole) Martin of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Thomas (Sandra) Martin of Negril, Jamaica; and his cherished nieces Michelle (Jeff) Ferguson, Jennifer (Steve) Rives, and Victoria Martin.

Bob’s life was filled with joys both big and small. He could often be found cheering on Terra at her tennis matches, attending performances for his grandchildren, participating in various school events, relaxing with his dog, Alex, and above all, supporting his family with boundless enthusiasm. He was a loyal Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, sharing many game days with his sons, Chris and Dave. He was also a devoted adventurer at heart, recently spending summers boating on Canyon Lake and enjoying Arizona’s beauty, as well as staying active through a love of golf, fishing, and biking. Bob’s greatest joy was spending time with family.

A viewing service for Bob will be held on November 21, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ, 85297. In celebration of Bob’s life, we invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his memory and the joy he brought into our lives.

Bob’s legacy is one of kindness, friendship, and love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all.

Condolences

  • We miss you. We miss your laugh. We miss your hugs. We miss your jokes. We miss you.

  • Mitch and Patty Fields

We have so many happy memories of our friendship with Bob and his family from our many years together as friends. Bob’s leadership among our young colleagues at SeaLand made a lasting impression on many careers. So glad he was our friends

  • It’s sad to think that Bob is no longer with us. While we only connected on calls on his birthday, it always seemed like it was as if no time went between the calls. He always shared the progress of his children and grandchildren and we enjoyed our chats about politics, da Bears, and the Cubs. A really good man who’s going to be missed.

  • Having grown up with Bob and his family has left me with some great memories. His smile and laughter at what was going on around him was contagious no matter what he was doing, playing a game of golf or playing football. Whatever Bob was engaged in he gave 100%. You will be missed.
