Richard Josef Myers, 46, of Phoenix Arizona, passed away in Rio Verde Arizona on May 19th, 2024.

Richard was born in Whittier California in 1977 to Marsha Kay Myers.  He was raised in Lakewood California for most of his life.  He was preceded in death by his mother, older brother Don Myers, younger brother Blaine Schmoeckel and uncle Richard Beck.

Richard was raised with his mother, sister Marsha Irene Williams (Myers) and niece, Marissa Eick (Myers).  He was blessed with a large family filled with so many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts who were all very close. Marsha was more than a sister to Richard; she was a 2nd mother to him. Richard and Marissa were only 1 year apart in age and were inseparable. They were more like brother and sister and did everything together. He adored his family beyond words. They were his anchor in all things.

Richard moved to Arizona with his family in 2005. He did not want to move to Arizona at first, but he needed and wanted to be with his family. California was his home and he loved it there.  Once he found his roots and key friends in Arizona, he made it his home.

Richard was beyond loved by his family and everyone that knew him. He was so full of life and always the life of the party. He was passionate about the LGBTQ+ community and poured his heart and soul into it. He was known as “Richie” in the LGBTQ+ community and made such a huge impact on so many lives. His mother was his biggest supporter and cheerleader.

Richard is survived by his sister, Marsha (Jimmy) Irene Williams, niece Marissa (Josh) Eick along with 6 additional nieces, 1 aunt, 4 nephews, 10 cousins and his chosen brother Rudy Mariscal.

Richard will forever be remembered for his wit, his kindness, his unique way to make his presence known, and his passion for his community. Until we meet again our dear loved one. You are in our hearts forever!

He was such a great man. He cared for me for no reason. He always made sure i wasn’t alone and always included me. He will never be forgotten. He is always loved. I’ll always love him. He was more than a friend. He was the first one I told about my birthday. It’s said to say he won’t be with me on my birthday. Even though he said yyyaaaaaaasssss b*****tch I’m there and I’ll tell the boys. Instead I’m going to boycott for another celebration for him. And hope it’s ok I attend his real services.
