About Ricardo Martinez De La Riva

With deep sorrow and unwavering faith in God's promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Ricardo Martinez De La Riva, who entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 80.

Ricardo was born on February 25, 1946, in Piedra Gorda, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Manuel Martinez and Candelaria De La Riva. Raised with humble beginnings, he served in the Mexican military before immigrating to the United States in pursuit of a better future for his family. In 1986, he brought his wife and children to the United States, and in 1994 the family settled in Mesa, Arizona, where he built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love. Among Ricardo's greatest joys were becoming a grandfather and, later in life, fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a United States citizen on November 5, 2024.

Throughout his life, Ricardo was known for his remarkable work ethic, unwavering Catholic faith, and deep love for his family. Whether working in agriculture, as a chef and fisherman in Alaska, building airplanes in California, or as a gifted woodworker in Arizona, he approached every job with humility, integrity, and gratitude. He found joy in gardening, caring for his home, gathering with family for carne asadas, dancing in his cowboy boots, and spending time with those he loved most.

Ricardo is lovingly remembered by his children, Sandra, Diana, Manuel, Ricardo Jr., and Erik; his eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; extended family members; and many dear friends. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, humility, courage, and unconditional love. His bravery was evident in the sacrifices he made to build a better life for his family. His family will forever cherish the lessons he taught them: to work hard, trust God, and be grateful for life's many blessings.
