Rebecca Kim Mellish

Rebecca was born in Chicago, Illinois to Young Ja Kim and Mung Hi Kim on April 13^th, 1971.  She is survived by her parents and her brother Daniel Kim. She studied Psychology at the University of Iowa, then earned an Associate in Nursing from Oakton College. She earned her BS in Nursing at Arizona State University in 2016. She spent many years working as a nurse where she deeply cared for her patients. She brought light and tenderness to work and she was deeply loved by her coworkers.

She is also survived by her husband of ten years, Joseph Mellish and her daughter of five years, Marissa Joy Mellish. Rebecca enjoyed traveling, collecting purses, and exploring food. She also enjoyed dining out with friends and family. She also enjoyed hiking, camping, and playing board/card games with her family.

Rebecca was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, but after many treatments, the cancer metastasized to her brain and other organs. Her body lost the battle with cancer on October 31, 2020 surrounded by family, in Gilbert, Arizona. Her body is being laid to rest at Gilbert Memorial Park on November 4, 2020. However, her spirit is laughing, singing, and dancing in heaven – and in our hearts.
