Rajendra B. Patel, 71, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021 in Gilbert, Arizona, surrounded by his wife, Florence, and children, Ajay and Kshama. He was born to Kantaben and Bhagubhai Patel on September 24, 1949, in his motherland, India. Raj was a beloved husband, brother, dad, bapa, mama (uncle), and friend. He loved nothing more than enjoying a great meal with friends and family. Raj showed us all how to love. His devotion, protection and duty to his wife, Florence Patel of 50 years is unending.

Raj is survived by his wife, 5 children (Jim Potter, Richard Potter, Susan Piñeda, Ajay Patel, and Kshama Rosales) and 11 grandchildren (Eric and Jeremy Potter, Troy and Cody Potter, Skyy Piñeda, Aidan, Adrik, and Andrew Rosales, Olivia, Alexander, and Phoenix Patel). He is loved and remembered by countless other family and friends that he held close to his heart.

We grieve with love and gratitude.

Memorial Services will be held at Garden Chapel 33 North Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201 on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 at 11:00AM.

I’m so sorry. I only meant him once but heard stories of him for many years. I know he will be greatly missed.

  • To Raj,
I didn’t know you in your tender years when you first courted Florence and acted the part of the romantic young lover, but I did meet and know a jolly old man with a good sense of humor and an obvious, but well hidden, undercurrent of spiritual love for your family, your dog, and your native land. Rest in peace, old codger! May you dwell in perpetual light and the love of God. We’ll miss you.

  • Raj,
There’s so much I want to say. You are so many things to me, friend, father figure…I could go on.
Thank you for being a part of my life. Thanks for your love and support. I have such wonderful memories of you and your family. I’ve been blessed to have known your beautiful soul. You are now free from the prison of your body.
You have touched and changed so many lives.
May you rest in peace my friend. You are loved and missed.
    Love, Becky

  • Wishing you Peace and Blessings Raj, and Love and Comfort to your Loved Ones.

We just learned about Raj’s passing, and are so sorry for your loss.
Raj was a great friend and I learned a lot from him when we worked together in California, including the importance of family.
We have tried staying in touch since we moved to NC, and I always enjoyed our phone calls. Raj was a special guy — will miss our talks, Uncle Raj !

I was thinking of Raj this afternoon and searched his name as was so very sad to see his obituary. I worked closely with Raj in accounting at Star of India for 61/2 years. My husband and I dearly loved Raj not only as my boss as our friend.
