Remembering Pavitra (1972 – 2024) :
Pavitra Puri, 52, passed away on Sunday, September 15th 2024 in her home in Chandler, Arizona. Pavitra had been fighting cancer for the past six years and was strong till the last moment. She is survived by her three children, Ankita (24), Anish (21), and Ekta (18), and her husband of 27 years, Arjun.
Pavitra was born June 22, 1972 in Chennai, India. She moved to the United States to attend Purdue University in 1992, and later moved to Phoenix, AZ with her husband, where they began their family.
Everyone who knew Pavitra knew how worldly and intellectually curious she was – her interests and prowess in fine arts and French defined much of her personality and influence on those around her. With two masters degrees in French literature and translation from Purdue and ASU, respectively, she was a lifelong academic and inspired that spirit in all of her children. Pavitra was the prime example of what it means to be loving, selfless, and thoughtful; in every way possible, she was devoted to being there for her children and her family, physically and emotionally. Even throughout her years of difficult treatments, she brought joyfulness and warmth to every day. She enjoyed baking, making art, learning languages, and getting a good coffee and almond croissant.
A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 19th, 2024 at her residence in Chandler, where family and friends can visit. In place of sending flowers or gifts, please consider donating to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (https://www.bcrf.org/) to support cancer research.
