About Michael Lawrence Clark

Michael L. Clark, 71, passed away on June 24, 2023, at his home in Gilbert, Arizona.

Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was working at the Colony Bar in Port Huron when he met his wife, Karen Clark. While attending the University of Detroit, Michael knew he loved studying science. A friend of his always wanted to be an optometrist and after looking into the field, he knew that was the occupation he wanted to pursue. Michael and Karen got married in 1977 and moved to Chicago so that Michael could attend optometry school. Michael graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1981 and he and Karen moved to Arizona immediately afterward. Michael and Karen opened their own Optometry practice, Acuity Eye Center, where he served patients across the Phoenix metropolitan area. He later decided to take a less administrative role and sold his practice to take a position with Nationwide Vision. During his tenure with Nationwide, he worked with patients in Sierra Vista and Phoenix. He was just shy of retiring after 42 years of service upon his death.

Michael leaves behind his children; Justin Clark, Ryan Clark, Sarah (Gregrey) Littleton, and granddaughters; Courtney Johnson and Eleanor Littleton, all of whom reside in Arizona. Sister; Donna (Lori) Clark, and brothers; Gregory (Stephanie) Clark and Jeffrey (Lena) Clark, all of whom reside in Michigan; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Karen Katz Clark, his father, Donald Clark; mother, Evelyn Clark.

Michael will be buried alongside his wife Karen at Gilbert Memorial Park in Gilbert, Arizona.

He was such a great guy to work for. We had fun at the office and shared the love of some great music. Great memories from that time in my life.
