Matthew Harris

Matthew Harris, known as “Matt”, was a loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His unexpected passing occurred on July 21, 2024, at the age of 63, in Pinetop, AZ.

A native of Arizona, Matt obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arizona State University. However, he decided to follow his heart and pursue a career in law enforcement. He devoted 27 years to the Tempe Police Department, serving in various roles such as patrol officer, traffic squad member, undercover officer, and culminating his career as a detective. Following retirement, Matt found joy in spending time at his summer residence in Pinetop, AZ.

Matt and his wife, Patty (Buss), first met at Coronado High School and were married on August 24, 1984. Their only child, Justine, joined their family in 1985.

Matt is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Justine Shira (Nathan), brother Mark Harris, sister Mary Ellertson, and his three grandchildren: Aubrey (12), Hailey (8), and Logan (4).
