Mason Ryder Koechig, a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and student of Sweetwater Community School in Phoenix, Arizona passed away unexpectedly on November 13th, 2024.
Mason is survived by his parents Lee Koechig, and Ashley Tieken, his siblings Trevor Koechig, Logan Koechig, Kayla Koechig, Mila Koechig, Robbie Tieken, and Allie Tieken, his grandfather Michael Mattal, and his grandmother Bonnie Mattal.
Mason was born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 26th, 2007 to Lee Koechig, and Ashley Koechig (at the time), he was a student at Sweetwater Community School. Mason had a goal to attend trade school to become a diesel technician or a welding technician like his cousin Aiden Mattal.
Mason was a loving, caring, kind, and compassionate son, brother, grandson, cousin, and loyal friend. His smile would light up a room, his sense of humor however odd sometimes would bring laughter to all. Over the course of his life, in his younger years, he was baptized at Calvary Community Church, he received his first rank in Aikido, and Kenpo Karate, he participated in football, and wrestling in school, he attended guitar lessons with Dara Couch. Mason was a lover of music, writing songs, drawing pictures, he would sit at his computer at night, he’d sing and make music sending songs to his closest friends.
Mason left this life way too young, he is deeply missed, and will continue to be missed for the rest of his family’s lives and all those he impacted in his short life here.
A day will not pass that we won’t think of you, tell you we love you, and cry ourselves to sleep. Every life that comes to be touches the world for eternity. Our Mason did just that, he filled our hearts with happiness and love. May you find the Peace in Heaven that you couldn’t here, you may be gone from this world but will never be forgotten.
“One sunny morning, we’ll rise, I know, And I’ll meet you further on up the road”-Johnny Cash
Love you brotha.
Sending love and hugs to you my dear friend.
I love you so, so much Mason! I miss laughing til I cry with you, I miss your hugs and how you’d always be the peace in whatever room we’d be in. I’ll forever cherish those memories of us play fighting, cooking together, pranking each other and those late nights talks about whatever comes to mind. You’ll always forever be my baby brother until the very end. Rest peacefully sweetheart, one day we all will see you again.
Although I’ve only met you once, that was all It took for me to understand how much of caring and humorous young man you were. Rest in paradise Mason.
Everyday is empty without you. I miss you so much, I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you. You were the light to my night. I hope you knew how much I love you. I don’t know how I’m going to spend the rest of my life here without you.
Mason is missed at Sweetwater Community School. He was one of my students in science class and always added interesting comments (often times funny) during our class discussions. Rest in peace, Mason.
