Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of KenDaryl Leon Primus, known to all as Ken, on May 2, 2025, at the age of 50. Ken passed peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to those who knew him.

Ken was born on July 17, 1974, in Detroit, MI. He graduated from Oak Park High School before attending Ferris State University, where he laid the foundation for a career that blended both business and hands-on expertise. Ken pursued a successful career in banking and mortgaging before relocating to Arizona in 2008. In 2010, he completed the Phoenix Electrical JATC Apprenticeship program to become a journeyman wireman. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 640 and worked for over 10 years at Rosendin Electric, where he rose to the position of Quality Assurance and Commissioning Area Manager, earning the respect of his colleagues.

Ken shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, Makisha Wilson-Primus, and a proud father to his two sons, KenDaryl II and Lawrence Xavier. He loved his family deeply and was especially close to his mother, Dr. Francine Sims, often referring to herself as a “boy mom” due to her deep affection for her son. He also maintained a close relationship with his stepfather, Gregory Sims.

Outside of work, Ken had a passion for adventure. He loved to travel, he never turned down a cruise. He was an avid sports fan, and a bigger Detroit Lions fan. Ken also had a talent for baking and enjoyed trying out new recipes, always bringing joy to his loved ones with his culinary creations.

Ken will be remembered for his warm sense of humor and his generosity. Always ready with a joke and a helping hand, Ken’s kindness touched the lives of many. He was the type of person who would give without hesitation, finding joy in helping others. His family, especially his boys, were his pride and joy, and he poured his love into them every day.

Ken leaves behind a heartbroken family including his Uncle, Leonard Primus and cousins, Tiffany and Dalya Primus as well a host of friends who will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, love, and unwavering support.

A memorial service will be held on May 9, 2025, at Gilbert Memorial Park. The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM.

So saddened over the loss of a great coworker and friend. I got to work closely with Ken for 6 years and will miss him terribly. A few years ago, one of my projects was in trouble of missing a turnover date. I called Ken for help, and he showed up on my site the next day at 5am. He stayed the rest of the week to help. We wrote MOPs together nonstop for those few mornings, in between lots of laughs and venting sessions. I share this story because when I think of Ken, I think of someone that was reliable, intelligent, hardworking, and always there for you when you needed help. To Ken’s family, I’m so sorry for your incredible loss and will be thinking of you through this difficult time.

It’s hard to encapsulate your feelings about someone like Ken and what he meant to the people he touched with his presence. Ken was a special person, as evident in the outpouring of condolences we see here and in other forums. Ken was a part of a very dedicated group of Quality professionals who push forward daily against strong headwinds, but relentless in their pursuit of service and support, and Ken was one of our best. I had the privilege of calling him both teammate and friend for over 9 years. He was a dedicated pupil, a captivating instructor, and a passionate man. Ken was a strong leader within our regional team and would offer his support to anyone who needed it. But aside from work, Ken and I had fun together. We’ve shared many stories and laughs together over a cigar or a meal throughout the years. I’m left with too many memories of the man he was and continues to be in our hearts and minds. Nothing I can say will take away the pain you are experiencing. Ken was a one of kind guy, anytime you seen him he always had a huge smile on his face. I will always remember the first time meeting him in 2010 working side by side, he was always joking and having fun. Ken was a part of our team. Although I didn’t know him as well as others, my last memory of him was volunteering to give our extra meals to the homeless on the streets of San Antonio, TX after our Quality Summit. He was selfless and kind, with an endearing personality. My heartfelt condolences go out to your family.
