A Life Remembered
Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kathleen Anderson Tingey, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019. She was born on March 7, 1939 in Tooele, Utah to Varian “Chunky” and Ada Mae Johnson Anderson. She was the fourth of six children.
Kathleen grew up in Wendover, Utah and attended Utah State University on a scholarship. It was at the university where she met her eternal companion, Sherman Neil Tingey. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on October 24, 1958.
Kathleen raised her family in Tempe, Arizona. Together with Sherman they had six children – Cal (Shelley), Kistie Sharp (Lonnie), Kurt (Lezlee), Fawn Teague (James), Shannon Wootan (Justin), Troy (Becky). Her greatest accomplishment was raising her six children.
She shared her many talents with her family and encouraged her children and grandchildren to develop theirs as well. Kathleen was an accomplished seamstress, she loved to learn, and she also was an excellent cook. She was a gracious entertainer and would put her cooking skills to good use fixing many meals for family, friends and guests.
As a family they traveled the world, living in Germany, Australia, as well as six different states while Sherman took visiting professorships at different universities. Together, Kathleen and Sherman traveled to 54 different foreign countries.
Kathleen, with her family, enjoyed spending summers at their ranch in Wyoming. As her family grew and grandkids were added, the ranch became a focal point for visiting with family members.
Kathleen was an excellent example of positivity, discipline, faithful living and tireless loving service. She spent many years serving valiantly in various church callings.
Her crowning achievement was her family.
In lieu of flowers, Kathleen would like donations to go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
Services for Kathleen Anderson Tingey will be held on December 28, 2019 at the LDS Chapel on 10305 E. Southern Ave., Mesa, AZ 85208
