John Anthony Marovich passed away on Sunday March 23, 2025. He was born on November 1, 1941, to Dorothy Mae Bristow and John Anthony ‘Jack’ Marovich in Santa Monica California. He was the eldest of his six siblings. John spent his early years growing up in Long Beach CA, before the family moved to Borrego Springs, CA from 1950 to 1953. A highlight from his childhood in 1950 is that the entire family traveled to Europe on the Queen Mary. They moved back to Lakewood, CA in 1954. John graduated in 1959 from Lakewood High School. From there he earned his associate’s degree from Long Beach City College and from there enrolled in Long Beach State. After college, John served in the National Guard and the Reserves. While living in Long Beach, California, and working in the beverage industry, he met his wife of 58 years, Linda Wooten. They married in May 1966 and became parents to two sons, Scott and Greg. The family moved to Garden Grove in 1969, where they raised their family for 12 years. In 1979 John and his family moved to Mission Viejo, CA. After 25 years in the beverage business John started a second career in the construction industry, which later turned into his own handyman business. John had a passion for woodworking and remodeling homes for his family, friends and Linda’s business. John always had his van loaded with tools and was ready to go to work.
John had a passion for reading and compiled a large library of over 750+ books over the years. He loved photography and spent many hours digitizing and cataloging his more than 3000 pictures back to his childhood. He was a die-hard LA Rams fan where he held season tickets dating back to the LA Coliseum years. After retiring in 2000, John and Linda moved to Chandler, Arizona to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. He was an active supporter of his grandchildren’s activities, attending many sporting and theatre events. He loved his family dearly. John continued to work and tinker on projects for many years. In 2019 John and Linda downsized their home and moved into the Sun Lakes community in Arizona, where he spent his last years. He was blessed with the support and care from his wife Linda for the last three years and received wonderful care the last six months of his life from the Hospice of the Valley team.
