Jennifer Joan (Weisert) Metcalf passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in her Gilbert, Arizona home. Jenni had been battling leptomeningeal disease, a terrible metastasis of the lung cancer she was treated for in 2022. After treatment and a long hospital stay, she was brought home on May 27 to be under hospice care. Her remaining days were spent in a peaceful, calm environment in her home, with many visitors coming each day to share the love they felt for Jenni.
Jenni leaves behind a husband, Nate, and two wonderful teenage kids, Sara and Tyler. Her family was her passion and top priority, cheering on her kids in sports and building them up in school and life. Outside of her home, it was her work as a kindergarten aide at Spectrum Elementary that left an impact deep and wide across this community. Her love and smile touched not only the teachers and staff she worked with, but 9 years’ worth of kindergartners and their parents who knew her as Miss Jenni. While her passing leaves a hole in the entire community, her love and kindness set an example for all to follow. And follow they have, already returning vast amounts of love and support to the family and friends Jenni has left behind.
Jenni also leaves behind two brothers, Kurt Weisert and Chris Weisert, and two sisters, Leigh “Sissy” (Weisert) Joseph and Julie (Weisert) Jockisch, along with their respective spouses, children, and grandchildren. Jenni was preceded in death by a brother Danny and her parents, Fred and Jan.
Jenni’s celebration of life ceremony will be held Friday June 7 at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert AZ 85297. An informal visitation / open house will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, with the ceremony starting at 6:00 PM. For more information, please visit www.gilbertmemorialpark.com.

I met Jenni and Nate at the cancer center where I volunteer. I was struck by their friendliness, optimism and enthusiasm. We bonded over Hawaii, a place they love and visited and where I am from. We would visit endlessly and I enjoyed listening to Jen recall all her amazing experiences while visiting the island. There are no words I can say but I will keep Nate, Sara and Tyler in prayer, that her Aloha (love) will give them strength and peace in the days ahead
I remember when Jenni was born. All of us neighbors were so excited! As Jenni grew into a little girl, she always had a beautiful smile and a tenacious sprit as she navigated being the youngest of six.
While reading the journal entries that Nate so kindly shared, I see that see that she became the beautiful woman, wife, mother, sister, and friend that I saw in her as a little girl , keeping that same spirit within her.
May you find peace in remembering her always
With love and prayers,
Chris (Lane) Davis
