OUR MOTHER, JANET RATLEY KLOCK, WAS CALLED HOME TO HER LORD ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2021. SHE WAS BORN JULY 22, 1929, IN SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA TO HER PARENTS EARL NORMAN AND HELEN WREDEN RATLEY.
AS A CHILD, MOM SURVIVED POLIO AND WENT ON TO GRADUATE FROM THE UNIVESITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WITH A TEACHING DEGREE. WHILE ATTENDING USC, SHE MET AND MARRIED JOHN WESTON KLOCK. THEY RAISED TWO CHIDREN, KATHLEEN KLOCK WESTON AND PAUL NORMAN KLOCK.
MOM LOVED CHILDREN AND MADE A CAREER OF TEACHING FOR THE TEMPE ELEMENTRY SCHOOLS. SHE LOVED TO TRAVEL THE WORLD AND SAW MANY WONDEROUS SITES. HER OUTGOING NATURE AND DESIRE TO BE INVOLVED IN HER COMMUNITY LED HER TO BE INVOLVED IN MANY SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING P.E.O., TEMPE REPUBLICAN WOMEN, PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION, TEMPE WOMENS CLUB, VOTING POLL INSPECTOR AND SERVED ON THE CITY OF TEMPE PLANNING AND served ON THE ZONNING COMMISION.
MOM is SURVIVED BY HER CHILREN, KATHLEEN KLOCK WESTSON, PAUL NORMAN, DAUGHTER-IN-LAW ROBIN LYNN KLOCK, HER TWO BELOVED GRANDSONS, JAMES REED AND RYAN GREGORY KLOCK AND HER GREAT GRANDSON DUSTIN PAUL KLOCK. SHE WAS LOVINGLY CALLED “SIS”BY HER GRANDCHILDREN.
MOM WISHED HER ASHES TO BE SPREAD WITH THOSE OF HER MOTHER AND FATHERS ON THE MUSTANG SPRINGS, CARRISA PLAINS, CALIFORNIA. THE SAN JUAN RANCH WAS WHERE MOM AND HER PARENTS SPENT A GOOD PORTION OF HER ADOLECENT LIFE. A SMALL MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD FOR FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS AT A DATE TO BE DETERMINED.
My heart goes out to Paul and Robin, Kathleen, my sweet nephews James and Ryan and young Dustin. I loved Janet. She had traveled the world and had so many fabulous stories to share. She was a gift to all who knew her. ❤️
Doesn’t seem like any family gathering was without Janet. She always appeared with wonderful food and she really knew how to throw a beautiful dinner and party. I will miss her dearly and will always keep her close in my heart. My sincere condolences to Paul, Robin Kathleen, Ryan and James and cutie pie Dustin. Much love❤ Sharon
Janet was an amazing and strong woman. So thoughtful, best cook, and a lady that inspired many. My thoughts and prayers, and condolences go out to her family and all that knew her. 😇

Janet was a great story teller and she loved hearing stories too. I always enjoyed talking to her about California, the arts, traveling, and so many interesting things. She wore her worldly experiences with pride and I love how she shared her passion for traveling with James and Ryan. Brava Janet!
