James H. “Jimmy” Cleveland Jr, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife at age 65 on July 10, 2023. Jimmy was surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona.

Born April 30, 1958, to James Hollis Sr. and Barbara Jean Cleveland, Jimmy grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and attended MacArthur High School. After high school, he pursued his passion for agriculture and welding by furthering his education at Southwest Texas Junior College.

In 1983 Jimmy began his 31-year career at CPS Energy. Starting in the coal yard, his hard work and perseverance advanced him to Control Room Operator, then Shift Supervisor, earning the respect and admiration of those privileged to work alongside him. Leading by example, his commitment and concern for his colleagues and knowledge of the power industry created a stellar example of leadership.

Jimmy was a devoted and loyal husband to his wife, a wise father to his children and stepchildren, and a proud grandfather to his grandchildren. He is now reunited in Heaven with his father and mother, James Hollis Sr. and Barbara Jean Cleveland, and his sister, Nancy Jean Stolz. Jimmy is survived by his wife Tiffany, children Dusty & Carly Cleveland with grandson Bodhi, Thomas Cleveland with grandson Jaxon, stepchildren Corey & Jackie Goble with grandsons Cooper & Oliver, Coty & Pamela Goble with a granddaughter on the way, brothers Paul Cleveland and David Cleveland, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jimmy will be remembered for his integrity, loyalty, generosity, kind heart, and unwavering love for Jesus, his family, and his friends. He was a gentleman whose word was worth more than gold. He loved hard and lived even harder with a passion for weightlifting, traveling, fast cars, fast bikes, and fast boats. Jimmy’s infectious laughter, sense of humor, and beautiful soul will forever be missed by all who were blessed by knowing him.

Services for Jimmy will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at Mountain View Church, 4815 W Hunt Hwy, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.

Tiffany, I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful husband and best friend. He sounds like he was a beautiful soul who was loved by many. As hard as it must have been to watch Jimmy’s life ebb away I’m thankful he was in your arms as he drew his last earthy breath and took his first celestial breath in the arms of Jesus. How comforting that must have been for him.
I love you, Tiff and won’t stop praying for you and your family. Rest in eternal peace Jimmy.

  • I truer friend there never was. I’m sorry I can’t be there. So glad I went and saw him!

I only knew Jimmy for a short time, but it was evident from day 1 the life he lived, the love he shared and that family was everything to him. Praying for the whole family ??

  • I knew Jimmy from our college days in Uvalde.
Jimmy was entertaining and fun to be around.
He lived with very decent life values and evidently followed them to the end.
    RIP, Jimmy!
    Regards,
    Steven in Austin, TX
