Howard Jay Kravitz, known affectionately as “Howie” to his closest friends and family, passed away on November 29, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Howie lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

Howie’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to serving and caring for others. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Howie’s professional journey was illustrious. A highly educated individual, Howie held multiple degrees, certifications, and licensures in the field of healthcare and emergency services. His career spanned over three decades with the Chicago Fire Department, where he served in various leadership roles, showcasing his expertise and unwavering dedication to saving lives. Howie’s impact extended beyond his local community as he assisted in setting up several emergency medical services systems across Illinois and worked tirelessly in emergency rooms and trauma centers nationwide.

But it was not just his professional accomplishments that defined Howie. His dedication to his family, including his wife Cindy and their four children Joshua, Ryan, Ashley, and Kyle, was unparalleled. He was a loving husband, father, and friend, always putting the needs of others before his own. Howie’s work ethic, compassion, and loyalty were traits that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Outside of his career, Howie had a passion for the outdoors and physical fitness. He completed over 60 marathons, 5K, and 10K runs, showcasing his passion for the outdoors and physical fitness, determination, and perseverance. His love for his pets, including his dogs Bella Rose, Marley, and his cats Jinxie and Holly, was evident to all who knew him. Little Bear, his beloved dog who passed away in 2016, held a special place in Howie’s heart, a bond that remained unbreakable even after his passing.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Howie’s life at Gilbert Memorial Park on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Gilbert, Arizona. Howie’s legacy of selflessness and service will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him. His love for his family, his dedication to his profession, and his enduring impact on his community will continue to inspire generations to come.
