05/25/1948 - 03/02/2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frank J. Wilson in Gilbert, AZ, on March 2, 2025, at the age of 76. Surrounded by his loving family, Frank left this world knowing he was deeply loved.

Born on May 25, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frank pursued higher education at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania before embarking on a distinguished career in the transportation industry spanning over 40 years. He led multiple transportation agencies, served as transportation commissioner for the state of New Jersey, and even served a brief term as the Governor of New Jersey.  His career was defined by hard work, perseverance, and an unyielding commitment to excellence. A respected leader, Frank earned numerous accolades for his expertise and contributions to the field, but his greatest professional pride came from mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and opening doors for others.

Beyond his career, Frank loved golfing and cheering on his favorite football teams, but nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his family.

While his professional achievements were widely recognized, Frank’s greatest success was as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (“Pop”).  He was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara, for 55 wonderful years, building a life rich in love, laughter, and countless treasured memories. As a grandfather, he was playful and devoted whether enduring playful beatings with a pool noodle from his grandson or having his nails done by his granddaughter. He embraced fatherhood and grandparenting with the same dedication and heart as he did his career, instilling values of hard work, ambition, and perseverance in his children and grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his daughters, Lisa and Ashley; his grandchildren, Caden and Bella; his son-in-law, Parham; his brother, Dennis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer; his father, Frank; his mother, Rita; his stepfather, Bob; and his brother, Gregory.

Frank leaves a legacy of professional achievements and cherished family memories. His absence leaves a profound void, but his legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He has left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him and he will never be forgotten.

A private family service will be held to honor Frank’s memory.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR?px=8755867&fr_id=154020&pg=personal&copy_link_share
