Farrell Lynn Tretter, 71, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, February 4, 2022 in the hospital surrounded by close family members. He was the oldest of four children.
Farrell was born September 23, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Frank and Betty (Garvin) Tretter. He grew up going to church and knew the Lord. He graduated from Westminister High School in 1969. In May 1970, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and after completing his required training and airborne school in Ft. Benning, Georgia, he was deployed to Vietnam, in the 101st Airborne and was discharged in January, 1972.
Farrell was an avid golfer and member of his local bowling team. He also loved to go camping and fishing with his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everywhere Farrell went he made friends and always had a great story to tell.
Farrell also enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle with his friends and son-in-law, David Wood. He was always ready to hop on his bike for a new adventure, exploring back roads, dive bars, and playing the juke box or enjoying live music. He always knew every word of any song being played and every once in awhile you could find him out on the dance floor. One of his favorite phrases was, “Don’t threaten me with a good time!”.
Farrell was always there to help relatives and friends when he was needed. He had a special spot in his heart for dogs and children and they gravitated towards him too.
Farrell retired from Orange County Transit Authority in California in August, 2013 after 29 years of service. He left a legacy and example of a strong work ethic, love of his country, and love for his family. He will be dearly missed.
Farrell is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Lynn (David) Wood and Eva Louise Tretter-(Anthony)Requejo, his five grandchildren, David Justin Wood, Brittany Lynn Tretter, Sean Michael Karsky, Jessie and Cohl Elias, two great grandsons, Greyson Rydell Valentine and Zayne Michael Stilwell, his three sisters, Cathy Dyer, Debbie Haynes, Kristi Tretter-Frisby and step-mother, Kathleen Tretter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Tretter and his father Frank Tretter.

Sorry for your loss, I know there is comfort knowing he is walking with our Lord and savior
Farrell will be missed by all who he crossed paths with through his life. He had such a unique colorful character that stood out from others. A family loss from my generation. Although he’s waiting for us just on the other side. God bless you, Farrell.
I have such warm memories of Farrell talking about the children in his life. His face would light up and he was so happy. He was so kind and loving.
